My work at Kudi has been about solving real problems…

Another day at the office

Being out there on the streets and interacting with agents who use our platform has to be, for me, the most gratifying experience about my job and working at Kudi; because you get to see how the great work being done here translates to real solutions for people. In a little over four months at Kudi, I’ve had the privilege of close interaction with these agents. It brings meaning to all the work you put in. In my perspective, a job should be more than earning a living but making life and every moment of it count.

Two stories stand out from my several interactions with Mobile Money agents who use Kudi. I remember, in Abeokuta, Ogun state, I met a woman called Dolapo who shared with me her journey in Agent Banking and how she hopes to pass on the business to her children. She told me she had been a widow for a couple of years and saw her last child through school on profits from the business.

This story reminded me that we might be solving technical problems back at the office but the solutions translate to people’s real-life problems being solved. That’s someone being empowered economically, that’s someone who has a way out of a possible traumatic situation.

I also remember in Abuja, a Cynthia that I met, one of our Agents there. She runs a small roadside outlet. She told me she had recently just gotten admission into a University and she was saving up money so she could go to school. I admired her courage and resolve to keep pushing.

I live in this country and I understand the challenges of rising above a dysfunctional system. It feels good to know that I’m being a part of the solution, not the problem.

Every day, stories like this motivate me to keep doing what I do so that a Cynthia or a Dolapo somewhere will be touched by all the problems we solve together as a company.

I think it’s a privilege at this time to be at Kudi to solve real problems.
